The flora (plant life) of California is biodiverse and resilient. Many of the plants in this environment need to withstand the risks of drought, heat, fire, extreme rain and snow.
To highlight some of the incredible biodiversity in plant communities around California, I surveyed community members for some of their favorite wildflower and plant species. I then designed illustrations that were reminiscent of science illustrator field notebooks, to capture the essence of the observer who may come across these plants for the first time.
The illustrations were then photographed and placed onto postcards, with the idea that people would send these beloved plants around the world, without the risk of biocontamination.
